I'm not understanding why my water bill is $159/month when it's only myself and my two small children both under the age of 6... I had a plumber come by and there are no leaks, so it's the water company charging me that for some reason and when I look at my bill it says something about We are paying for EPA mandates, no one I know seems to know that that means.

The residents voted in the same mayor for 30 years. Did anyone stop to think that just maybe, a fresh approach might be good for the city. Akron is terrible because no one that lives there cares and no one protests about city actions until it is too late to correct. Now the federal government had to step in because the water systems were in disrepair, EPA charges are what makes the water bill so high. The workers at the water department are pretty good when you have a complaint but you have to call city hall regarding the cost of your water. They will usually put you through to a supervisor that can adjust your bill (one time only) lower.

They work for the city but they do not work with the people in it. I recently called into the business office to inquire about my water bill and why it was increasing. I advised that it was normally around 100 but it was getting CLOSER to 200. The rep quickly replied your bill is not 200! To which I had to repeat that I said it was GETTING CLOSER to 200. Just a very short and non-compassionate attitude towards someone who always pays their bill in full and has never had any issues. I was also made aware that their was a large increase in the utility rates due to a sewage project taken on by the city. So not only will they increase our bill to pay for city projects, they will also not offer any relief or budget payment planning of any kind. When I asked if the rate will ever return to what it was the rep actually chuckled a bit and replied "no, I don't think so." What ever happened to real customer service? I can understand that facts are facts but to be so short and cold to a concerned citizen that is supporting his family just makes you feel like the people you are to trust really don't care. This is nothing but a job for them and they are simply waiting until quitting time. We really need to up the standards here.

Regarding water charges (which are really high) in Akron!!!!

What an injustice to Goodyear Metro Park to have this view right across the street for over 2 years!. This house must be owned by SOMEONE - a person, a realty or the bank. It is a disgrace to Akron for this to be the view at the Metro Park . This is my neighborhood and I'm ashamed of the City for this.

They are rude and refuse to come up with a plan to assist people struggling to pay sewer rates that are completely outrageous. There is NO WAY a house that paid $70 water bills for 4 years should be paying $140-160 a month!!! I do not own this house. I rent. Renters should have an assistance program! I am a single parent and struggle as it is! Then I come to try and come up with a solution and I get a complete lack of compassion or communication. This city is falling apart and they want to make it worse by creating issues for those trying to stay and weather the storm. Ready to move.
