Dear Mayor....I voted for you and convinced my at that time 80 year old mother to vote for you.............that was the hard part... I thought you would do great things for this city and bring it back to life...I grew up here...moved away with my husband in 1980 because he was an ironworker (structal steel ) there was no work.........moved back here in 1993 for he was disabled and that is when i joined the local plumbers and pipefitters union. we moved away again in 1996 because of my work......... I was hurt on the job in 1997 and could no longer do my duties for the union...... my husband began to get sick then he passed away form mesothelioma. in janurary 2004. I moved back to Akron in 2004. were i now oun a home. i have contacted the city over purchsing the property VACANT lot which i have mowed since before they tore down the house and still do. i recieved papers offering me yhe land for well over a year.sent back the forms that the city sent me. NOW I DON'T HAVE ANY ACCESS TO WHERE MY GARAGE IS BECAUSE SOMEONE DECIDED TO SELL IT OUT FROM UNDER ME OR MY NEIGBOR. SO I AM HOPING I DID NOT VOTE FOR THE WRONG PERSON.HOPEFULLY YOU CAN CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE IN WRITTING THAT I HAVE THE FIRST CLAIM ON THIS PROPERTY...I HAVE CALLED CHRIS I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES OVER THE PURCHASE OF THIS PROPERTY'. ELIZABETH EVERETT. 445 CHAMPLAIN ST. AKRON OHIO 44306
Danny is taking the same approach to running the city- first learn how it works, then look for places to make improvements, then implement those changes conservatively so that the unforeseen consequences can be addressed before disaster strikes from an unpredicted source.
So far, so good.
So far, so good. Danny had some big shoes to step into when Mayor Plusquellic left. Whether or not you were a supporter of The Don, he was here a long time and made a big, national, mark for Akron. He left us in good fiscal shape with a high bond rating. It was all Danny's to mess up. He hasn't.
There isn't the acrimony between the Mayor and other agencies that we suffered from during the previous administration. Danny did an excellent job when he was Clerk of Court, moving slowly and making adjustments at a considered rate rather than throwing out the baby with the bathwater and starting all over again. As a result of that, our Clerk's website is a model for how to do it correctly.
