Just like a human ER, cases are handled by the degree of threat. The people working here are professionals. While you may feel your pet is emergent, the staff may have more important priorities. Hit by vehicles, resperatory distress, and intestinal blockage will usually go to the front of the line.
Very busy place! When going here, especially on the weekend or holidays, be familiar with the term triage.
24 hour emergency services, I took in my red eared slider turtle which was looked at and handled very well. Highly recommend for emergency services and low cost for the initial visit. Don't hesitate to bring your pet in during an emergency, they have vets for exotic pets here and can refer to other offices for exotic pets down the street for regular visits as well.
I do not recommend you take your animals here for emergency care.
Excellent veterinarians and techs. Referred here by family vet in Wooster for specialists. Diagnosed our beloved golden retriever with cancer and provided chemo treatments. Very compassionate people. Answered all quesions in person and in follow-up calls. Called to check on his progress outside of normal office hours, including on Labor Day weekend. Very highly recommend Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital.
My experience with the staff was top notch. The Drs and techs are very professional and caring. I hope I never have to go there again, but if I do, I'm in good hands.
I spoke with people who traveled as far as NY to have their dog treated there. My pup wss diagnosed with a not-so-common disease and now he is a normal dog.
When my dog ingested a lethal dose of cocoa, and I took her there at approximately 12:00 a.m. It was 10 degrees outside at the time. I had to wait about 12 minutes before anyone approached the door. The lady at the door would not let me in. Then, the lady proceeded to ask me questions to through the door. I was freezing holding my dog in my arms. When i finally got in i picked up some bad vibes that they really did not want me there or to admit my dog for treatment. She then asked me who I had called to get the advice from. I told them the number i had called for advice and they told me that it was not an authenticated poison control hotline. I GOT THE NUMBER FROM THEM. How does an emergency animal Clinic give out the wrong number for Poison Control?? I left immediately and went to another animal hospital to seek help.
They perform all the tests away from you, so if you animal gets anxiety if it can't see you, let the staff know. My dogs have been treated great when we had to take them in for off hours emergencies.
It is very clean. The people are very nice. They have updated equipment and is prob better than a lot of human hospitals I have seen.
